ARCH BISHOP EMMANUEL UDOFIA GEARSUP TO TRANSFORM ORO NATION

As He Preps For His Enthronement As The Pioneer
Arch bishop Of Oron Arch diocese
He is taciturn. His ambiance radiates the quintessence of an ebullient monk, evoking enthusiasm, courage and blest quietness! Archbishop Dr. Emmanuel Okon Udofia is a rare breed amongst a thousand in the Priesthood.
At first gaze, his height and stoutness will present him as a military top brasshat. Of course as a former paramilitary officer in Nigerian Custom, specializing in espionage and intelligence, your perception isn’t awry. Today, he serves as a formidable tool in the hands of God, prospecting for salvation of lost precious souls.
It is this mission that has taken him of late to the beautiful estuaries of the Oro nation, a place like the Macedonia of old, begging for a caliber of an apostle like him to come and help transform the people.
Before now he has served meritoriously as the Archbishop of Uyo archdiocese, Calabar and Rivers State archdiocese of the Methodist Church Nigeria. It was during the last biennial conference of Methodist Church Nigeria held at Ikot Ekpene archdiocese last year that the church heeded the yearnings of the Oron faithful for an archdiocese that the top hierarchy of the MCN led by Prelate, His Eminence Dr.
Oliver Ali Abah that sought for an excellent hand to pioneer the archdiocese of Oron that the lot fell on Archbishop Dr. Emmanuel Okon Udofia, JP.
As much as the Port Harcourt diocese needed him, Oro nation needs him much more. Udofia is respected as a diligent, prudent and foresighted Christian leader, with lots of outstanding records of success in not only dreaming big but exhibition of tenacity, resilience and hardwork in mobilizing resources and men to ensure the dream is eventually accomplished.
This is the portrait of the man Oro nation will love to have and own in their quest for taking on arduous task of human, spiritual and infrastructural development of the Oron environment.
Oron is so significant to the growth and development of Akwa Ibom State. It sits on the rich, yet untapped and undeveloped massive wealth in several fronts; the blue economy, the mangrove now nearly completely extinct due to unrestrained deforestation, as high cost of cooking gas, kerosene has recruited more men and women into the estuaries to rip off the adorable mangrove tress for domestic use as fire woods.
Oron has inexhaustible deposit of gas and crude oil, it is noted for producing the most nutritious specie of crayfish, it’s also strategically gifted with wealth in the sea transportation within and outside the country through the Atlantic Ocean, it’s tourism capabilities and historical feats are yet unexplored potential for transformative development of the nation. Oro nation is home to the multi billion naira Ibom Seaports, and many more.
Archbishop Dr. Emmanuel Okon Udofia sees his mission to Oron beyond his personal ministerial growth but for the growth and development of the Oron people and Akwa Ibom State.
Oron has a unique history in the annals of Methodist Church movement in Nigeria; it is one of the routes through which early Methodist missionaries accessed the southern flank of the nation with the gospel. And Archbishop is prepared to re-ignite the old missionary flames in the environment for the overall progress of the citizens.
His pioneering feats includes the Aso Rock Chapel, Abuja where he was a member of the team during the Olusegun Obasanjo presidency. He singlehandedly push for the creation of Akwa Ibom State government chapel during the Arc. Obong Victor Attah administration, and was appointed the first Government House Chapel leader. Today, Akwa Ibom State is blessed with Pastor Umo Eno as the Governor; this was one of the dreams of Archbishop Udofia during his days at the Government House Chapel when he was praying for a serving pastor to preside over government both as a priest and a king in Akwa Ibom State.
He is also credited as a silent mobilizer who helped coordinate the emergence of late Prelate emeritus of Methodist Church Nigeria as the Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Spiritual Fathers of Faith Forum, and has worked together with Prelate Prof. Isaiah Issong to sustain the relevance of that forum.
Udofia’s towering achievements today are a credit to how God can raise a man from the lowly plain of Ini and crown him with honour. Meanwhile, from the grapevine we learned that a formal enthronement service to welcome this ecclesiastical giant to Oron archdiocese of Methodist Church Nigeria holds next month in Oron.
