Echoes of last days revival
Prophet David Owour

Bringing alive the lost message of
the first century church

Stories by Ima Nkanta

The popularly acknowledged prophet to the world in these last days, Prophet Dr. David Owour and his team of international gospel ministers will beam live to the world from the shores of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, come February 2026.

This cherry news was announced during the meeting of church leaders of all denominations under the aegis of Nigeria Christian Revival Forum (NCRF) which met early April to flag off preparations for the hosting of Prophet Dr. Owour in Nigeria with Akwa Ibom as the host State. The planning committee meeting co-piloted by leaders of the Christian community in Akwa Ibom State, including Archbishop (Senator) Helen Esuene, Prelate Prof.

Isaiah Issong, in close collaboration with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, was briefed about Prophet Owour’s love for Nigeria and his determination to ensure Nigeria catches the fire of the endtime revival. What makes Prophet Owour most sought after is his emphasis on repentance and readiness of the church for the coming of the Lord.
This piece features, among others, God’s message to the church and details of the ministry and work of Prophet Dr. David Owour as witnessed by this writer.

The Lost Message of the Church
In the first century when Jesus taught crowds of people from Galilee to Capernaum, and across the precinct of the Jewish nation, as recaptured in the synoptic gospel and the Luke’s accounts, what was his message? Handing over his baton to a few of his protégés whom he had taught for more than three and the half years, He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

What was the message he intended the apostles to preach to the world? The gospel or euaggelion in Greek tongue (Strong, 2023). The gospel refers to “the glad tidings of the kingdom of God soon to be set up, and subsequently also of Jesus the Messiah, the founder of this kingdom.

After the death of Christ, the term comprises also the preaching of (concerning) Jesus Christ as having suffered death on the cross to procure eternal salvation for the men in the kingdom of God, but as restored to life and exalted to the right hand of God in heaven, thence to return in majesty to consummate the kingdom of God,” (Strong, 2023).

Jesus Christ himself gave ample explanation of what constitutes the gospel in Matthew 4:27. “From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” His message had focus – the kingdom, and to gain this kingdom repentance was the hallmark. All other accounts, including the apostles in Acts and the Epistles corroborate Matthew’s version of eye witness accounts.

For instance, Acts 17:30 said, “In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.” Who was Apostle Paul addressing here? The unbelievers in Athens whose major interest was in creating wealth to enjoy the fancy of a cosy life, and worship of strange gods for wealth and wisdom. Paul did not mince words when he presented the gospel to them, charging them to know the urgency of repentance from their ungodliness and idolatry. But this message has lost its rhythm in many pulpits.

The Gospel Today
Just as there have been lots of changes in standards of life over the centuries, so has the presentation of the gospel by today’s preachers presents a far-flung shift; it is a diluted version of the original gospel. The type of Gospel on the main menu today is encouraging more of the pursuit of the kingdom’s benefits than the kingdom itself. It directly contradicts Christ’s teaching on his popular Sermon on the Mount or the Beatitudes; “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33 NIV

According to Christ’s teaching, as evidenced in the first century teachings of the apostles, to gain the kingdom and eventual eternity with God, repentance was the answer but today’s focus is prosperity. Consequently, the preachers cravings for wealth and earthly aggrandizement appears to have blurred their vision for eternity, and millions of believers the world over are a victim.

Whether you call them prophets or apostles, the pursuit of power, wealth and glory have taken a dominant percentage of their messages and practice. In so doing, the gospel has lost its original taste and value. The pursuit for wealth, power and glory has blurred many of sincere and honest service to the body of Christ. Many now serve Satan and their bellies.

if a survey is conducted of worshippers on reasons they attend church services, it probably will reveal many are in the church for many wrong reasons, than to seek the kingdom and eternal life.
In Nigeria, for instance, with the economic difficulties, deteriorating standards of living, poverty and diseases; most have resorted to seek spiritual interventions through prayers. Unfortunately, many ignorantly ended up with false prophets and teachers whose interest lies in selfish parochial purposes than offering genuine help to the people.

Evil prophet busted
A couple of months ago, one of such deceitful prophets was exposed in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. His church located in a strategic bend of the city by popular Oron Road, with an attractive ambience ostensibly designed to cover up berserk practices that were going on behind the altars. Popularly referring to himself as a Odudu 1 (the powerful one), was noted for boasting about power for signs and wonders, his regular activities like fasting and prophetic nights drew large numbers of solution seekers, especially young women who thronged his church for miracles.

Little did his followers know that he was a fake prophet, who engaged sorcery and divination for miracles until his clandestine evil practice was exposed, as angry mob ransacked his church. The discovery of magical arts objects unearthed from under the altar of the church shocked onlookers.

Common among these prophets are messages cooked up to instil either fear of sudden death or misfortune, unless some spiritual assignments were undertaken to avert potential occurrences.
You will not find the message of repentance in such places and adherents will remain enslaved to these evil prophets as long as the spell on them lasts.
Fake prophets are not only common in Nigeria, several countries in Africa are notorious havens of fake prophets.

Any hope of recovering the lost message?
God has never left a generation without a remnant that he will use to fulfil his purpose on earth. “Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.” Isaiah 1:9
From the scenic landscapes and vast wildlife preserves, the resilient and hard-working people of Kenya, East Africa, comes a voice crying for repentance, holiness and preparation of the church for the coming of the Messiah.

His message, though was first heard in the streets of Kenya, has started to reverberate across continents of the world, with proofs of genuine power authenticating his calling.
He is Prophet Dr. David Owuor, the founder of Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, Kenya, with networks across continents.
About 22 years ago, he left behind a burgeoning job in the US and returned to Kenya to start preaching in the streets the message of repentance, holiness and rapture. He is today a major voice for revival in many nations.

Not Just Any Other Prophet
After completing his undergraduate degree, he undertook masters in genetics at the University of Nairobi. Being one of the leading students, he got two scholarships to Germany and Israel. He chose Israel. At the Ben Gurion University, he changed his programme from plant genetics to biochemical genetics.

On graduation he returned to Kenya briefly and worked for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as a volunteer. He went back to Israel for a doctorate in biochemical genetics at Haifa University, where he specialised in DNA sequencing. His quest for more knowledge took him to the University of Chicago Centre of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology in the US and specialised in transduction (advanced DNA science).

He then moved to University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey, where he lectured and researched on tumour genetics and how it grows. He worked at the centre until 2003 when he left and started preaching from city to city.

The encounter that made Him leave science to serve the Kingdom
Although, he has experiences with God that signalled he was called to preach, he hesitated but the Lord finally caught up with him on July 3, 2003 when in a vision the Lord showed him two verses of the Scriptures written on the wall, in this sequence: Isaiah 43:11 “I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no Saviour,” and Isaiah 43:1 ” But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel; “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.”

A Crowd Of Persons Healed Of Various Aliments During The Healing Service With Prophet Dr. David Owour In Abidjan, Cote D’ivoire

These scriptures revealed to him “Who God is, and who he (Owuor) is to God.” Convicted, he surrendered his career and entire life to answer the call of God.
“The Lord commissioned him to preach to the Church the message of repentance and holiness because the Church is in dire straits and is not ready for the coming of the Messiah. The Church is experiencing decay: messages are adulterated, the presence of sexual sins, rampant falsehood and general lack of holiness,” (Repent Malaysia 2021).

He has had several encounters with prominent Bible figures like Moses, Daniel, Elijah and John the Baptist. Could this account for why he cut a conservative mien with a long beard? He has also had encounters with the Lord Jesus Christ himself who commissioned him in April 2, 2004, to, “Go and prepare these people for the coming of the Messiah.”

A Coalition of Clergy During Meeting In Uyo For Reports of the Delegation To Prophet Dr. David Owour

A journalist’s accounts of his encounter with Prophet Dr. David Owuor
On March 20, 2025, I was part of the delegation from Nigeria to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire to attend a global conference with Prophet Dr. David Owuor hosted by a Coalition of Churches in Cote d’Ivoire. Touching down at Felix Houghphet International Airport, Abidjan, we drove straight to an expensive events arena where people from several countries filled the hall, as Prophet Dr. David Owuor taught.

He exuded a graceful charm, charisma and compassion, as he taught with passion, humility and radiance.
Owuor possesses uncanny exegetical understanding of scriptures, putting on the balance the biblical prophecies, dates, times and locations of their fulfilment, as well as the implications for the present day church, the world and the coming of the Messiah.

For space constraints, let me share some excerpts of his central theme in few subheadings:

  1. Repentance
Repentance, turning away from sin, lust and worldliness, to God, is the surest guarantee of salvation and eternity with God. Prophet Dr. David Owuor main message on repentance borders on:
  • Repentance of pastors from wrong teaching, prophecies and building doctrine on prosperity instead of salvation and eternity
  • Repentance from staged miracles meant to deceive the people and milk them
  • Repentance from immoral practices among Church leaders, especially pastors and false prophets preying on innocent members
  • Repentance from neglecting the message of the coming of the Lord and failure to prepare the Church for rapture
  • Repentance from compromise and infighting among leaders
  • Repentance from loss of interest in the power of the Kingdom for signs and wonders as proofs of the calling of pastors, etc
  1. Holiness
Another emphasis of Prophet Dr David Owuor is holiness through obedience to God’s Word and separation from worldly indulgence. And that pastors must prepare a holy Church for the coming of the Messiah.
  1. Preparation of believers for the coming of the Messiah
This can only happen when the leaders discard the compromised message of prosperity and replace it repentance. Focusing Matthew 24:4-35, he stressed that whereas God’s warning to Israel has specific timing and dates for their occurrences, manifestation, but for the coming of the LORD, He did give details of the time and date; which makes it too dangerous for leaders not to prepare for rapture – the Day of Judgment.
The Prophet punctuated that all the signs signaling the imminent coming of the Lord have taken place already, and that the rapture of the saints is now more glaring than ever before.
  1. Massive revival
The prophet emphasized the imperative of collaboration of nations for global revival, to arouse believers towards the foregoing and spread the fire of end time revival, which will culminate into repentance, the pursuit of holiness and readiness for the second coming of the Messiah.
  1. Eternal Gospel
The Prophet emphasized that God expects pastors to preach the Eternal Gospel (Rev 14:6-7), that the eternal gospel is the original gospel, because it teaches the believers the fear of God, eternity in heaven and power of the Kingdom. He taught that the Eternal Gospel is immutable – cannot be changed, and warned that many pastors are preaching ‘another gospel’ which does not impart the fear of God on the Church anymore. He implored pastors to return to the original gospel – the eternal gospel, because Jesus Christ wants the fear of God back in the Church, as it will bring glory to God and separate believers from worldliness for special use.
  1. The Healing Service
After two of days of impactful teaching conference, the Prophet held two days healing services at the open field in the Felix Houghphet University, Abidjan.
A team of local medical doctors were at the entrance to evaluate the sick and ascertain the conditions of the sick, their medical history; the disabled and various medical conditions, including reviewed medical reports. These were processed and give appropriate identification tags before the healing service began. A crowd of the sick; crippled, blind, deaf, dumb and others with different types of ailments, attended the healing services. Spontaneous shouts and praises rent the air, as the crippled walked, the blind saw, the deaf and dumb received their miracles.

How Prophet Owuor conduct healing
His approach of conducting healing is simple; after making a simple prayer of intercession and petition to God to release the healing power on the sick, he would declare: “The lame begin to walk, the blind begin to receive sight now…”And the next thing, you’ll shouts from the congregation of a miracle.
There was no laying on of hands, no deliverance drama of someone rolling on the floor, yet the crippled, the blind and others got their miracles.
The Prophet also lined up the sick in their categories and walked in between them, praying the “shadow of the Lord to touch and heal the sick.” And as witnessed firsthand, scores celebrated their miracles of healing.

  1. Nigerian Delegation Meeting With Prophet Dr. David Owuor And His Team
On Monday 24th March, 2025, the delegation from Nigeria led by Bishop Emmanuel Etim, PFN Chairman, Akwa Ibom State chapter held a closed door meeting with the Prophet and his team of Ministers.
The meeting was to formally express the interest of the Nigerian Church to have the Prophet and his team visit Nigeria as part of his global mission, with Akwa Ibom State as host State.

The leader of the delegation explained to the prophet that Nigeria was ripe for massive revival programme and that a coalition of Churches have met and decided to seek the consent of the prophet and his international team of ministers for revival meetings in Nigeria.
The National leader of Ministry of Repentance and Holiness in Nigeria, Archbishop (Senator) Helen Esuene and her Deputy who is in charge of the South West region of the Ministry of Repentance And Holiness, Lady Mrs. Eme Udom, also informed the respected prophet and his team that the Church leaders in Nigeria, were in support of the National Repentance Conferences held in Abuja in 2024, with National President of CAN in attendance.

Archbishop (Senator) Helen Esuene also assured the prophet that a Coalition of Church leaders and ministers presided over by Prelate Prof. Isaiah Issong, an outstanding spiritual father, has already kicked off plans for the mega revival meetings, and that the team was only expecting a favourable response from the prophet on proposed dates for the visitation.

Representative of Akwa Ibom State CAN Chairman, Rev’d Isang Eyo Umoh, CAN Secretary, Akwa Ibom State chapter, intimated the prophet and his team of CAN’s Chairman support for the proposed revival meetings in Nigeria.
Pastor Ima Nkanta also stressed the importance of availing the Nigerian Church with the message of repentance, holiness and preparation for rapture, as the hyper-grace messages were beginning to gain traction amongst younger generation of ministers, posing a significant threat to believers’ consciousness of the judgment of the last day. A formal letter of invitation was presented to the Prophet by Bishop Emmanuel Etim.

  1. Response of Prophet Dr David Owuor
He showed great delight in the participation of the Nigerian delegation at the Cote d’ Ivoire revival meetings and noted that Nigeria was strategic in the revival moves of God for the last days. He emphasized that once Nigeria catches the vision for revival, the entire Africa would experience massive transformation in leadership.

He recalled previous attempts in 2016 to hold revival in Nigeria but could not gain the cooperation of CAN then. He was pleased to learn that the current CAN leadership was supporting the move. He assured the delegation of his preparedness for the Nigerian mission and proposed February 2026 for the revival meetings in Nigeria, with an appeal for further coordination with his team of ministers for effective planning for the revival meetings in February 2026.
