Cleric Launches Maiden Album, Bags Excellence Award

It was an atmosphere electrified with songs and praises to God as a young budding gospel music minister with Sufficient Grace International Worship Center, Idoro Road, Uyo, Nonso Godwin officially launched his maiden album with the sole aim of taking the gospel to nukes and crannies of both believers and unbelievers in Akwa Ibom state and beyond.

The six tracker album which contains songs such as “Etubom Ekong”,  “Great God” and other soul inspiring songs was officially presented to the public on Sunday under the distinguished chairmanship of Chief John Ukpe at a church off Ikot Oku Ikono junction, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

In a brief remark to kick start the stars studded event which had the likes of Bobby Friga, Sam Praise, Felix Raw, Eno Williams and a coterie of other Akwa Ibom gospel artistes in attendance,  Ukpe thanked the gospel musicians, both young and old for directing their talents and energy into useful venture for edification of God and not wasting them in social vices.

He supported Nonso Godwin whom he described as a friend and brother with a handsome donation, calling on other lovers of good things to donate more, even as he prayed for him to hit stardom as soon as possible.

The event featured presentation of an excellence award to the celebrant, Nonso who is also a spiritual song writer, in appreciation of his efforts to propagate the gospel of God to reach the unreached through the use of his talent by the founder of Celebration Chapel International group and Partners – CELCI Abuja, Bishop Augustine Effiong, represented by Pastor Festus from Port Harcourt.

Pastor Festus, himself a song writer and partner to the CELCI group while chatting with newsmen at the venue of the epoch making event, encouraged the artiste not to give up even though what he might be expecting is yet to come, he should continue to forge ahead.

Using the opportunity to explain why CELCI decided to ennoble one of their own with award, he had this to say:

“In this generation we in the body of Christ don’t like appreciating our own. CELCI considers this attitude a negation of what we preach and stand for and therefore decided that something must be done to change the status quo, hence the award.”

Unveiling the plates, the general overseer of Sufficient Grace International Worship Center, Evangelist Dr. Mark Udo who patted Nonso on the back and was apparently happy beaming with smiles as a father whose son has done him proud, noted that with God everyone that has a vision under his ministry must live to see the vision come to fruition one day.

Evangelist Dr. Udo popularly known for his annual program, ONIA, One Night In April, who has trained many Akwa Ibom artistes some of whom had gone global predicted that very soon Nonso Godwin will follow suit.   He admonished the celebrant not to be discouraged over the poor sale recorded at the launching, promising that any left over would be sold out when the launch will be reorganized in his church.

Reacting to accolades lavishly poured on him, the celebrant who held the audience that comprised both clergy and secular guests spell bound on his genre of gospel music, said the journey started about three years ago, promising that his will not be like others who go into oblivion soon after the launch of one album.
