HOW TO BE THE REAL MAN

HOW TO BE THE REAL MAN
By Lawrence Achudume

A real man is someone who takes responsibility of the family. The real man provides leadership, the finances and the security needed for the total well-being of the family.

But it is sad that in some homes, men have abandoned their roles to women. A man who cannot stand up for his family has brought himself to ridicule. Men were not designed to bring shame but pride and glory to the family. To become the real man…

Think Creatively

Some men think negatively and this cannot help to raise them up to the responsibility God has placed on them. You have to think responsibly and creatively.  Ask yourself,  ‘What can I do to change the situation of the home and not to put blame of anyone for my  failure?’ You need to change your thinking; change from negative to a more responsible and creative thinking. Creative, positive thinking helps in solving the problem.

Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) says:  For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

A man is the manifestation of his thinking. Show me who you are and I will tell you how you think. You manifest what you’re thinking in your heart.

Start small, grow big

In starting a business, nothing is wrong in starting small but you must not remain small. Start small but grow big! It depends on your thinking. It takes good and creative thinking to move from small to big business.

Job 8:7 (KJV) says: Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. Real men shouldn’t be idle but start small, grow big and stand up for your family. Real men don’t complain that there’s no job; they create jobs for themselves and others, by starting small and trusting God to grow big.

In African culture, men are to take charge of the responsibilities of the home. The real man takes responsibilities and leads by example; even if in the face of trouble, you don’t cry. When you cry you weaken the faith of others around you . Though sometimes crying maybe a sign of needing help and mercy from God but this should be channeled properly to God. You cry to God where it hurts most. For instance, the scriptures say, A man who cannot feed his family is worst than an infidel. This doesn’t put you out there as the worst man but it’s to challenge you to stand up and do something. Be strong and take up your responsibility instead of sitting down and crying because crying won’t fetch you the help you need to meet the needs of your family.

Be prayerful

A real man who wants God’s help should be a man of prayer. Luke 18:1 (KJV)  And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.

Prayer is about seeking God’s help in time of need. There are problems of life you cannot fix on your own, you need God’s mercy for help to show up at your time of need. Also, you be committed to kingdom service and not just your work alone. Real should be committed to kingdom service.

Real men should have favour

The real man should attract favour and help from God and men. Jesus himself couldn’t do with having favour with  with God and men.

Luke 2:52 (KJV)  And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Men must work hard and build good relationship with people. Many of us are too rigid and don’t know how to relate with others. How will you enjoy the support of others when you do not relate well? At home and work, men must work hard on themselves to attract help and favour.

Acts 26:22 (KJV) Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come.

Paul the apostle couldn’t do it without the help of God and the favour of others around him.

As a real man, learn how to bring order and discipline into your life. Also, don’t struggle alone, have a synergy with others. A real man seeks help from God and not depending on his own strength.

The Real Man is a worshiper

The real man is prayerful, he is also a worshiper. A real man must know he is a pride of his family, a role model for the children. Therefore, he must not miss out in the place of worship.  The real man should lead the family in prayers, also in worship, he should lead them to church on and ensure the wife and children grow in the Lord.

The real man will rise early and seek God is worship. Proverbs 8:17-18 (KJV)  I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

Nowadays, we hear much about the virtuous woman but we don’t hear about the faithful man. In the scriptures we have both the virtuous woman and the faithful man; we only hear about the virtuous woman. Proverbs 28:20 (KJV)  A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent. Faithfulness in the place of worship and service draw you to your blessings.

The Real man honours God

If you want God to bless you, honour God for they that honour God, He  will honour them. 1 Samuel 2:30 (KJV)  Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. Ensure you have your children worship and serve God together with you.  The mistake Prophet Samuel made was that he was going to church but he was not carrying the children along. His family lost the priesthood, same as Eli the priest, the family lost the priesthood. Their children were described as sons of Belial. The bad attitude of Eli’s children led to the death of their father.
