JUDGE MOUNTS CAMPAIGNS ON JESUS
By Ima Nkanta
In preparation for the annual transformation conference of First Love Foundation, a campaign has just been launched to further magnify the Lordship of Jesus Christ and entrench his holy name in all hearts across the globe, especially as Nigerians anxiously seek ways to ameliorate hardship they go through due to skyrocketing cost of living in the country.
Flagging off the campaigns themed, JESUS, a High Court Judge in Akwa Ibom State Judiciary arm of Government, Honourable Justice Charles Ikpe, revealed that the name of Jesus be spread abroad during this season so that peace and tranquility can prevail over fear, anxiety and depression experienced by many Nigerians due to the uncertainties of the time.
Justice Ikpe, who is also president of First Love Foundation, an interdenominational gospel foundation, explained that the name of Jesus is the only answer and solution to complex problems the citizenry and governments face today.
The judge, who also announced that First Love Foundation will be hosting pastors and members across Akwa Ibom State at the 2021 Transformation Conference scheduled for December 2nd at the foundation’s fellowship centre, 1 Ebong Umoitong St, Atiku Abubakar Way, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with the theme, Jesus, urged the church to intensify prayers for government and the society, as the myriads of problems faced today can only be addressed when the church prays and also magnify the name Jesus above all.
While unveiling campaign materials, with the name JESUS emblazoned on shirts and other promotional items, he admonished that believers should not be ignorant of the devices of the enemies, especially at a season like this.
Believers, the Judge insisted, should raise high the banners of the name of Jesus, whom he variously described as God’s free gift for the healing of the world.
Re-echoing Apostle Paul’s warning to believers in 1Corinthians 16:9 “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries,” he charged Christians to be alert and not to let the enemy close doors of opportunity to spread the Gospel through the church.
Prayers, he stressed were necessary for believers to fulfill the purpose of God for the nation, states and communities.
Meanwhile, pastors under the foundation across the local government areas of Akwa Ibom State are mobilizing delegates from their areas for the conference.
Information available at the media unit of the foundation has it that the 2021 conference of the organization will be exceptional as the President of First Love Foundation will himself deliver the keynote address.
The press release further indicated that In the last 18 years of Transformation Conference, First Love Foundation has been featuring leading national and international icons cutting across many fields.
Outstanding figures like Bishop David Oyedepo, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, His Excellency, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd.) of Nigeria Prays, Supreme Court Justice Niki Tobi among several others have delivered keynote addresses on topical national issues, with impacts which have positively shown in the development of the state
For instance, when the foundation brought Bishop David Oyedepo to Akwa Ibom State for the first time during the early part of Chief Godswill Akpabio’s administration, the entire place was covered with gloom, as the campaign for resource control taken up by former governor, Obong Victor Attah had irked the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, making it stifle the state of funds needed for development.
Even though a prominent citizen of Akwa Ibom State, late Chief Ufot Ekaette, was then the Secretary to Government, yet Akwa Ibom State was beset with numerous infrastructural issues, as federal presence in the state was very limited.
So, when Oyedepo came and visited Government House under the aegis of First Love Foundation, the clergy saw darkness over the place and prophesied the departure of darkness for light of progress to be ushered into the state.
That encounter was what broke the hedge, as a deluge of funds began to pour into Godswill Akpabio’s administration, making Akwa Ibom State a pride of the nation.
Till today, the impact of Bishop Oyedepo’s footprints in Akwa Ibom State through First Love Foundation and Hon. Justice Charles Ikpe’s most patriotic efforts, is still felt in all sectors of government, private sector and the church in Akwa Ibom State. Today, Akwa Ibom State has become a second home of Bishop David Oyedepo, as he is a regular guest at public functions.
It is believed that with the special delegate conference embarked by the foundation this week, Akwa Ibom State will score more millages in the transformation of all sectors of the state and total liberation of the people.
