PARAMOUNT RULERS THROW WEIGHT ON FARMERS DATA-CAPTURING

– Urge all farmers in their communities to register

Royal fathers of Akwa Ibom State have lent their voices in support of the ongoing farmers’ enumeration exercise in Akwa Ibom State, urging all farmers in their communities to make themselves available for enumeration.

The Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, His Eminence, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk made the call during the meeting of all Paramount Rulers in the state yesterday held at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uyo.

The Royal father who is also the Oku Ibom Ibibio, commended the effort of the Udom Emmanuel administration in boosting food security and sufficiency as well as creating job opportunities for the citizens through investments of agriculture, pledged the supports of all royal fathers in all the local government councils in Akwa Ibom State for the success of the exercise.

The Oku Ibom Ibibio who acknowledged the strategic importance of enumerating farmers, urged farmers to support the exercise by turning up for registration. He said the data-capturing will help State Government identify genuine farmers and also support farmers.

Earlier, the Executive Director, Directorate of Agricultural Investments, AKICORP, Pastor Umo Eno, who briefed the Paramount Rulers on the enumeration exercise, enlisted more supports of the royal fathers in sensitizing their communities and also encouraging farmers to take advantage of the programme.

Meanwhile, the royal fathers have enjoined supervisors and enumerators in all the local government areas of the state to work more closely with them, so that farmers would have more confidence in the success of the exercise.
