PASTOR UMO ENO IS MOST YOUTH-FRIENDLY GOVERNOR – YOUTH LEADER, FIFFGG

Rev Dr. Emem Jacob is a versatile youth – focused leader. He leads the Youth Wing of Fathers In Faith for Good Governance and oversees Christian Fellowship Evangelical Nigeria as her General Overseer. In this brief interview, he commends Pastor Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, for laying a solid foundation for youths to have a future full of hope and fulfilment.

When Akwa Ibom was created 38 years ago, how did you feel?

Excitement of having an identity in the nation of Nigeria as a state was something that gave us the greatest joy. That 23rd September, 1987 when Akwa Ibom was created was a day of great celebration. So, I’m very excited to be an Akwa Ibomite and thank God for the journey so far. 38 years is not 38 days, so we have seen the impact, we have seen the beauty of the state, we have seen the glory of God in the State, we have seen young men that were nobody being uplifted, strengthened, empowered, energized and released into different platforms, different institutions, just because we have a State of our own.

So as a leader of the youth, can you say that aspirations of the youth have been met by the creation of Akwa Ibom State?

I am excited about the direction that His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD., has given to the youth. Youth support programmes like the employment portal, empowerment portal and investment in agriculture in which the Governor has regularly motivated the youths to participate, are all opportunities from the Governor to help raise a formidable youth for the State.

Through this administration, youths who were down have been lifted, youths today don’t need to know any Godfather before they access government facilities. Many youths under the administration have been picked up, exposed and have been given a place of relevance in different fields. The administration of Pastor Umo Eno has been a great source of uplifting of young people. So, the governor is youth-friendly.

I have received several testimonies from different youths, pointing to the fact that several of them have benefited from this administration; either through employment portal or received some grants to start business. Some have been exposed to several capacity building trainings. So, we believe that if our Governor, who is youth-friendly, is giving more opportunity for more youths in his cabinet. The potentials of our young people are being utilized through various grants; our talented youths are becoming global stars, through the sponsorship of the State government.

The future greatness of our youths is so assured with all the youth-supportive programmes under the ARISE Agenda. With the kind of exposure and opportunities Pastor Umo Eno has given to youths, the future of the State is far brighter than ever. The government of this State in the nearest future will rest on the shoulders of youths.
